The Youth Mental Health First Aid course is for adults working or living with adolescents (those aged between 12 and 18 years), however, the course can be relevant for those helping people who are a little younger or older. This course is
particularly suitable for parents, school staff, sports coaches, and youth workers.
The Blended Mental Health First Aid in the
Workplace course is a combination of eLearning plus a half day of face-to-face teaching. The course is for adults working in a white-collar work environment. The focus of the course is on how to help fellow co-workers, though course participants will learn mental health first aid skills that can be applied to help any adult.
Evaluations consistently show that Mental Health First Aid training improves a participant’s knowledge of mental illnesses, their treatments and appropriate first aid strategies, and confidence in providing first aid to individuals with mental illness. MHFA courses have also seen show to decrease stigma and increase help seeking behaviors.
Standard Mental Health First Aid is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
Standard Mental Health First Aid training is designed for adults to support other adults. Course participants learn how to provide initial support to another adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical evidence-based action plan.
